So i want to experiment with a milk stout by "dry hopping" with toasted cacaonibs, vanilla and banana process to imitate a banana split dessert.

However, i am worried that raw banana might contain too much fat to work properly in the beer, so i am thinking of using bananachips (and toasting them aditionally in the oven) instead.

Have anyone experimented with banana in beer (apart from using hefeweizen yeast) and want to share their knowledge?

I wanted to see if anyone thought it necessary to patch up the old screw holes (see pic) or is it cool to just leave them there? If it is necessary what should I use to patch them up?

In one fermenter, I added mango juice after primary fermentation. After 16 days in the fermenters, the mango side had held steady at 1.004 for three days, and so I decided to bottle.

I wrongly assumed that the regular "control" fermenter would be ready too (because it presumably had less sugar to ferment since no mango juice was added).

That assumption...

I hope others will post their labels here so it is easier to see the final labels in one spot.

Currently using a 7 gal. Fermonster. Reading the other forums and web sites people seemed to be limiting their batches to different sizes based on pressure fermenting, etc.

Want is the average batch size everyone (into fermenter) has been using on non-pressure fermented batches and the resulting finished batch size after trub loss? Any feedback, tips/tricks would be appreciated. Cheers!]]>

I am in the process of building a motorized mash stirrer for my Blichmann BrewEasy using copper tubing flattened into fins like this (H/T to @Lonnie-Mack):

Given that the manual for the BrewEasy says you should leave the bottom 2/3 of the mash bed undisturbed when stirring the mash...

It had sat idle for two years. I learned a very common sense lesson on this one. I plugged it prior to the conversion and the compressor kicked on so I went to town on the conversion. It was not elaborate like many on here because it is a behind the wall of a bar setup but I had about 8 hours into it.

Upon completion a realized that it wouldn't cool. I did a bunch of research on refrigeration systems and I...

My first batch is a 5 gallon American session ale. I have it at 34 and at 9-10 psi. Would it be something to disconnect it from the gas. Roll it a bunch and then connect gas back on till it stops filling and repeat 4-5 times? Then let it sit for 2-3 days connected to the gas at the same pressure? Or is this essentially doing nothing?]]> 2
